Only by completing this form you can apply for an apartment at Majstranden. When you have completed the form press the “send”-button and we will get your application electronically. After that press the “print”-button and sign a paper-copy of your application. Mail the signed application to us with all necessary enclosures.
Your application will be taken into consideration only if we have your signed paper-version.

Advice for how to complete your application

1. If you are a degree student applying for an apartment for the first time choose “application for an apartment”. If you already have a rental agreement for one of our apartments, and you would like to extend it for a new period, you should apply for an extension of the agreement at the time when the next upcoming application time expires. If you would like to move to another apartment during your rental period, you should apply for changing apartment.

2. Complete the personal information with care. The “current address” should be the address for use to use when sending you information whether you have received an apartment or not, by the beginning of June. Membership in our shareholder-organizations or a few specific student-corporations at the University of Helsinki (Nylands Nation, Vasa Nation, Åbo Nation, Östra Finlands Nation) will give you extra credits. Complete the personal information for another person sharing your apartment ONLY if this person is moving in with you. If you would like to share a so called pal-apartment, please let us know with whom. For pal-apartments all applicants should complete an own application.

3. If you can not get the apartment of your first priority, please let us know your second priority. If your second priority is a pal-apartment, please remember to let us know with whom you would like to share it. If you would like to rent a parking lot, please let us know.

4-6 Your need for housing is a central factor when the landlord is deciding to whom apartments will be rented. If needed you can explain your need for housing in the open text field in chapter 6.

7. Our apartments are partly financed by the state, and therefore we are committed to several rules when it comes to revenues and assets. This is the reason why we need to know your monthly incomes, how big part of these are allowances and grants, your assets (for the last taxation year) and your total incomes last year (certificate over last taxation year/period as enclosure). This information is needed for ALL applicants including verified copies of enclosures complying the relevant information.

8. Remember to take a print of your completed application, sign it and mail it to us together with the enclosures, so that we have your signed application and enclosures before the application time expires.

9. Send us verified copies of at least the enclosures marked by *. If you are a coming first year student you should apply in normal order and send us a copy of the confirmation that you have been admitted to an University or Polytechnic, as soon as you receive it.

Your application will be pending for one year. If you will not get an apartment from August the 1st you will automatically be queuing for an apartment, meaning that you might get an apartment during the year, in case an inhabitant would like to move before the contract terminates (by the end of July). If you are queuing for an apartment during the winter your application must be renewed before the next application time expires, yearly in April, to still be pending.
When queuing for an apartment, please let us know if your need for housing changes. In that case you can help another person in need of housing.

All applications will be dealt with after the application time expires. We will inform all applicants in written form by the beginning of June.
